"Television" by Rich Praytor

I was watching The Bachelor last night with my wife. The Bachelor is a reality show where they take one guy and he gets to date 20 beautiful women at one time and choose who he likes best. And they call it a reality show? It should be on the Sci-Fi channel. If they wanted it to be a reality show, they should get the guy's mother to pick the women he gets to date. And each woman has just gotten out of a relationship and is bitter towards men. And he's the rebound guy.

I love watching TV. Sometimes I watch too much of it. You know you’re watching too much when someone cuts you off on the freeway and you think to yourself, "What would Hannah Montana do right now?" I pull up next to them and start singing a song on how to be a good driver. I think I scare people off with my blonde wig though.

 

In Philippians 4:8, it says to meditate on "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

 

I would encourage you that next time you flip on the tube, be aware of what you’re letting eyes see. There are some great programs, but there also are some very trashy ones as well. Ask God to give you the guidance on what you allow yourself to indulge in every day. If we see or hear things over and over again, we tend to start believing them. So make sure what you watch or listen to is ‘excellent or praiseworthy’ just as our Lord is.
