If you’re up for a unique album with a definite British influence, Red Umbrella’s first national release is for you. Wishing For Boardwalk opens with the catchy tune, "Storm Warning," and keeps a consistent Brit-pop sound through all 13 tracks, but changes the rhythm with each song.

Quick drums and strong guitar riffs make "Already Won" what it is. "Home," the very next track, is brought together with keyboards and a tambourine. It is quite obvious that this band "discovered that each member had a variety of musical tastes." From the more upbeat songs to the title track, which is more melancholy than the rest of the album, the tastes and talents differ tremendously.

Mentioning that the songs on their album are "ambiguous in certain ways," lead singer Jeremy Michaelis explains that what makes their music worthwhile is the fact that their songs are the basis for conversations. Writing a song in this way gives the band the opportunity to talk one-on-one with fans when they ask for the meaning behind the song.

Proving to be a one-of-a-kind band, the Ontario-based group has been compared to The Beatles and The Killers, and admits their influences include U2, The Beatles, Coldplay, and Queen.
