paul colman trio - one

If everyone in politics worked together, the world would be free of war. If all families were strong, the crime rate would drop. If the whole Church was united, we would change the world. This is what Paul Colman Trio’s One is all about.

Opening track, "I’ll Be With You," is oddly slow at first impression, but any doubts a listener may have about the album are wiped away by the lyrics. "I’ll be with you when the sun doesn’t shine / I’ll be with you at the end of all time / I’ll be with you when the stars fall from the sky / I’m be with you forever."

"Solution" is a bouncy rock song that catches the ear as it asks a simple question, "Do you wanna be a part of the solution?" All who have heard the statement, "Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it," will enjoy the sentiment of this song.

Another pop-rock melody accompanies the song "Big Blue Planet," which addresses the reawakening of a Christian into the world and the renewal of their eyes.

The title track, "One," is a slower piece. The vocals in this song are astoundingly well done and kept at a soft tone. It's a simple prayer for God to make the Church, "one people / one holy song / one people under the sun."

"One Generation" is reaching out to the world and asking them to take responsibility to solve the problems brought on by our ancestor’s mistakes before they grow completely out of control.

"You got to save my soul / tell me where do I turn / and what do I know / and who will save my soul?" is the chorus plea from "Save My Soul." This fun, bouncy melody, complete with strong and well mixed vocals, is backed up with lyrics that talk about the confusion in a life without God and all of the solutions people come up with to fill the void.

One is both inspiring and comforting; this album serves a fulfilling portion of lyrical development, musical accomplishment, and vocal dynamics.
