The band wastes no time informing people that it’s time to "turn this life around" in the poppy "Turn." The instant this song begins, you can understand why it was chosen as a single. The soft and repetitive "Fill My Cup" was another of the tracks that hit the radio. It is a simple prayer to be filled with the living water and love of Christ. "Let Love Grow," the track from which the title of the album was derived, has a slow but appealing melody. The lyrics are seemingly a commission to send people out into the world to bring healing through love to the hurting. Before they get to the actual call out, they take the time to define both what we think of love and what it is: "Love’s an emotion and wanderlust / And a feeling too deep for a song / But Love’s a decision and sacrifice / And without them love can’t go on." Picking up after the slower melodies is the overtly pop-rock melody to "Selfish Song." This song is designed to show the selfishness of human existence, no matter how well hidden, and how the Lord is the only one who can cure a person of that disease. The eerie notes of "The Killing Tree" are appropriate to the lyrics, which are describing an evil dream. The song includes many vivid word pictures, meant to paint the hazy world of this dream in your mind, including, "And I run, try to run, with nails in my feet." The song goes on to talk about the consequences of sin and the result of returning to the Lord, coming to the conclusion that, "And now I run to You and it moves from night to day / for to live I must die and there’s still no other way / I was all alone in an evil dream, but you took my place on high / now its you over me with your arms spread open wide / on the killing tree." Paul Colman Trio had great success in Australia for four years prior to their debut in the US where they were an almost instantaneous hit. New Map of the World, from first note to last, can easily prove why.
