![]() New to the Gotee Records line up, Ayiesha Woods comes out of the gates full force with her debut album Introducing Ayiesha Woods. Born in Long Island, New York but versed in many different backgrounds, she also grew up in Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas & Bermuda. Bringing many different cultures with her, Woods masterfully blends the sounds of rock, R&B, reggae and more. Her goal is not only to make music that people will remember but also to write lyrics that hit home for the listener. Woods' reggae influences shine throughout the album but most predominantly in "Crazy." It was with this song that tobyMac, of Gotee Records, first took notice of Woods. After hearing the song on Jamaican Radio, Toby (who was on vacation at the time) contacted the radio station's Program Director and quickly called Woods. The rest, as they say, is history. Although tobyMac may have "discovered" Woods she is no stranger to the industry. Granddaughter of a professional musician and daughter of a music man, a few of her accomplishments include, "Producer of the Year," "Contemporary Vocal Performance of the Year (Female)" and "New Artist of the Year" from the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards. "Big Enough" shows an edgier side of Woods and also features tobyMac on back up. For more information on Ayiesha Woods, check out her official website at AyieshaWoods.com. |
