Audio Adrenaline has a certain sound to their music that runs rampant through each album they have released - guitar driven melodies with Mark Stuart's irreplaceable and unmistakable voice. Only Audio Adrenaline can pull off any one of their songs with ease.

Their fifth released album is no exception to the rule. It has bold, guitar-powered songs, most recognizable on the tracks "New Body" and "People Like Me". Some Kind of Zombie opens with the softer-spoken "Chevette," a slightly deceptive song to start out with. Quiet? Audio Adrenaline? Does the name and description match? Heavens no! But the song accelerates as you listen and before you know it. You are singing along.

Title-track "Some Kind of Zombie" has well-composed lyrics that brilliantly compare Christians to zombies - in a good sense. Being "dead to self" and following directions from the Lord instead of your own is an idea that runs rampant in this song. The song provides good material to chew on as the world passes by through a tinted window.

"People Like Me" addresses those concerned about denomination. "Divided by hostilities, hung up on issues we disagree, a body that has been torn apart, we're still a body with a healthy heart." The song serves as a reminder that all who love the Lord and desire a relationship with Him through his Son are part of the body of Christ.

Blaise Pascal once said, "Within all of us is a God-shaped vacuum [or void] that only God can fill." Track nine, "God-Shaped Hole" speaks this sentiment exactly in the chorus. "Every heart, every soul, and everybody has got a God-shaped hole." The song is soft, with a comforting sound to it, that urges us to take the only thing that fulfills us - God.

For those who don?t hang around for the hidden remix of "Some Kind of Zombie," the record ends on a loud note with the fast-paced, rock song "Superfriend."

Overall, the album stay true to the band's name - Audio Adrenaline. From the compelling lyrics to the vocals, it could be no one else. For anyone who likes Audio Adrenaline, Some Kind of Zombie is an album that will fit naturally into the CD collection.
