The Legend of Chin is the first album published by popular Christian rock-band Switchfoot. The CD is a rock-driven album directed to high school students and their daily troubles.

It opens with the song "Bomb" and moves quickly to one of the first hits Switchfoot had - "Chem 6A," a song about the melancholy life of a high school student during class. The next song, "Underwater," has lyrics that inspire thought from even the most sawdust filled head. The music in "Underwater" is some of the best done in the album.

The lyrics in this album are thought-provoking and contain manly well composed lines such as, "I've seen ashes/shine like chrome" in "Home" and "Life and love and why/child, adult, then die," the opening lines to the song "Life and Love and Why." By far my favorite lyrics on the album are the lyrics to the song "Don't be There," which closes the album.

This album is a must-have for any dedicated Switchfoot fan. The music is not overwhelming and the lyrics contain many word pictures to assist in painting the meaning behind the song in the mind. It may not be an A+ album but it shows the band's potential and is a pleasurable listen.
