In 2003, Relient K decided to apply their catchy punk rock melodies and witty lyrics to making Christmas music in their album, Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand. Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand has been repackaged with seven new songs, creating this new surefire hit, Let It Snow Baby... Let It Reindeer.

In 2007, it was announced that the punk rock band Relient K would be releasing a Christmas album, leaving many people asking questions such as "Why?", "Can they really do it?" and finally, "Is it going to be good?" Well, in October Let It Snow Baby... Let It Reindeer by Relient K was born.

The album kicks off with "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" which is a great way to start off
the album. It starts off kind of slow, but quickly gains energy in typical Relient K style. The classic "Sleigh Ride" also starts off rather slow, but soon picks up the pace while pulling the listener into the Christmas spirit. "Sleigh Ride" is definitely a favorite.

The guys slow down the album with their original Christmas song "Merry Christmas, Here's to Many More," which explores why we celebrate Christmas. This is definitely catchy and thought provoking. Like most of their shows, the energy picks up again with "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Deck The Halls," and "12 Days of Christmas." I definitely like the Relient K version of "12 Days" because to me, the original felt like it dragged on for two hours. Relient K might have felt the same way as they sped it up, bringing it more to Relient K's style. They definitely create laughter throughout the song.

It might appear that about half of the album is Relient K just rocking out to classic Christmas songs. Well Matt Thiessen definitely knows how to keep you on your toes. By going from rock to a more worshipful version of "Silent Night/Away In A Manger," Matt's vocals on the song are full of passion, which definitely brought a tear to my eye upon the first listen. Another interesting song on the album is "Auld Lang Syne," which features all the guys of Relient K singing together. It will definitely make listeners think of a possible Beach Boys influence.

Relient K does a great job of remastering Christmas classics while writing and creating classics of their own. Let It Snow Baby... Let It Reindeer will definitely help create Christmas memories as parents try to find a common ground with their kids regarding Christmas music.

I recommend this CD to anyone who doesn't normally like Christmas carols/songs and to any fan of Relient K.
